Have you become unemployed since September 1, 2008 and do you need medical insurance coverage?

A new law passed by Congress in February 2009 may provide you with access to subsidized medical insurance through your former employer (if your former employer offers medical insurance to employees).  Click here for information from the U.S. Department of Labor for details.

In summary this is COBRA coverage with the government paying 65 percent of the insurance premium for nine months.

(December 2009)  Congress is considering changes to the COBRA subsidies for those that are unemployed.  No further information is currently available.
