Friends of the Southwick Public Library


The "Friends of the Southwick Public Library" is a organization of local residents that provide financial support to the Library through various events conducted during the year. The Friends have donated funds for children's programs at the Library,  purchased a computer for the Library as well as a projector and provided for other needs of the Library. 

The Friends is an IRS approved  501(c)(3) charitable organization

Fall 2011 Book Sale

The Fall Book Sale was successful and the Friends would like to thank both those that volunteered as well as those that donated books and those that came to the Sale and purchased materials.

The Sale was held on October 28-29, 2011.

Past Activities

The 2011 Annual Fishing Tournament was a success raising additional funds for use by the Library. 

The Friends funded the Picturing America series of events at the Library.  During the 2010 Annual Meeting of the Friends (October 13) it was announced that the Annual Fishing Tournament was a success with funds raised to support additional Library events.

August/September Update - Book Sale

      The Friends of the Southwick Public Library will meet Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the library to discuss plans for their October 18 Annual Meeting which will include a special historical presentation They will also finalize the October Book Sale assignments, and decide which adult library programs to fund during FY’12.

     The Book Sale is set to begin October 22 with a Collection Session of usable used books, DVD's, CD's and CD books in the Community Room from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. That will be followed on October 27 with a Friends Only Preview from 5-7 p.m. A single Friends membership remains at $5 per year, while family membership (any size) remains at $10 per year. The Book Sale will then be open to the public October 28-29, regular library hours.


May 2011 Update

The May meeting of the Friends is scheduled for Wednesday May 11, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.  The location is the Community Room of the Southwick Public Library.  For more information read the May issue of Library Links or click here for a copy.

Update on the Spring 2011 Book Sale

Thanks to those that attended the Book Sale
. Plans are under way for the Spring Book Sale on April 29 and 30, 2011.  The Friends preview is scheduled for April 28, 2011.  If you are interested in joining the Friends complete a Friends application form available at the Circulation Desk at the Library.

June 2010

The Friends have donated additional museum passes for 6 additional attractions to library patrons that are members of the Friends.  Memberships are available at the Circulation Desk for $ 5 for an individual or $ 10 for a family.  Click here  (the list is in MS Word format) for a list of available passes and links to the organizations.  Information on the passe is also available at the Circulation Desk.

The Friends have purchased passes for attractions Mass. and CT allowing for either free or reduced admission charges.  These passes will only be available to members of the Friends.  Membership applications are available at the Circulation Desk at the Library in order to support the Library and save money using the passes.  For more information click here or read the article in the June 2010 issue of Library Links available here or at the Circulation Desk at the Library.
