  • A book discussion group meets monthly ask at the Circulation Desk for details.
  • A knitting group meets monthly at the Library. For more information read the flyers inside the front door of the Library or ask at the Circulation Desk.
    • During the month activities for children and young adults are held check the Library calendar on the Town website or call the Library for more information.

    June 2008

    Adult Book Discussion group - Wednesday June 4 from 2:00 - 4:15 p.m.
    A Dream Works motion picture will be shown in the Community Room based on a book the group has read written by Khaled Housseini of the same name. Due to copyright restrictions on advertising the name of the film cannot be mentioned.

    Senior Health Fair - June 9 from 9:00 a.m. - Noon
    The Southwick Senior Center will be having a Senior Health Fair at Town Hall (454 College Highway) in the Auditorium. The Southwick Public Library (SPL) will have a table at the event to share information about the Library and the various services, resources, etc. that are available.

    Friends of the Southwick Public Library - June 11 at 7:00 p.m.
    The Friends of the Southwick Public Library monthly meeting will be held on Wednesday June 11 in the Community Room of the Library at 7:00 p.m.

    Summer activities for children
    The Children's Room maintains a binder on children's programs in the area. It is not intended to be an endorsement of any camp or other children's program rather information sharing.

    The Summer Reading Program

    Children

    "Wild Reads" at the Library will begin on June 23, and pre-registration begins on June 9. Prizes will be awarded weekly during the six weeks of the Program. Stop in to the Children's room at the Library for more details.

    Teens

    The Teen Sun time reading Program registration begins on Monday June 9. The Program runs from June 23 - August 1.

    • Chinese Cooking with Norma Chang on Tuesday July 20 from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m.
    • Frame a Memory Workshop with Nancy Laflamme on Tuesday July 15 from 1:30 - 2:15 p.m.
    • Dessert and Discussion on Wednesday July 30 from 1:30 - 2:15 p.m.. the discussion will be on The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau.
    • Rainforest Reptiles on Thursday July 31 at 11:00 a.m. Call for more information 569-1221.
    Adults

    The Adult Program will also run for six-weeks June 23 - August 1, 2008. Prizes will be awarded. Call the Library for details on any of these programs at 569-1221 or visit the Library for more details. More information will also be announced on Cable Channel 15 or news items in the local newspapers (Westfield Evening News, The Republican, the Reminder or the Southwick-Suffied News).

    Job Search
    - Tuesday July 29 from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. The session is free and open to the public. Call the Library if you plan to attend so that the Library can accommodate the number attending.

      September 2008

      An Open House is being planned for September 19, 2008 (tentative date) as part of the 10th Anniversary of the new Library. Several activities are planned for this day.
