This is NOT an official website of either the Southwick Public Library or the Town of Southwick. The purpose of this site is to share information on the resources and activities of the Library. This site was created and is maintained without public funds or Town staff.
The Library information can be accessed by going to the Town website and click on Library or click here. This site includes information on upcoming events, the catalog of books and other items in the Library collection, hours of operation, etc. Due to the limited staffing of the Town this website was started to supplement information on the Library with frequent changes during the month (as needed).

The "Friends of the Southwick Public Library" is a organization of local residents that provide financial support to the Library through various events conducted during the year. The Friends have donated funds for children's programs at the Library, purchased a computer for the Library as well as a projector and provided for other needs of the Library.
The Friends next book sale is scheduled for Friday October 22 10:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Saturday October 23 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Member Preview Thursday October 21 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Membership forms are available at the Circulation Desk at the Library. Books being donated can be dropped off on Saturday October 16 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
June 2010
The Friends are donated additional museum passes for 6 additional attractions to library patrons that are members of the Friends. Memberships are available at the Circulation Desk for $ 5 for an individual or $ 10 for a family. April/May 2010
The "Friends" held a successful Spring Book Sale April 30 and May 1, 2010 during regular Library hours. More information is available in the April 2010 issue of the monthly Library newsletter Library Links or call the Library at 569-1221. Memberships are currently available. The group has plans for other activities including a Fall Book Sale.
The Friends have purchased passes for attractions Mass. and CT allowing for either free or reduced admission charges. These passes will only be available to members of the Friends. Membership applications are available at the Circulation Desk at the Library in order to support the Library and save money using the passes. December 2009
The "Friends" at the December meeting has approved funding the Monday - Friday editions of the New York Times for another year. The group also plans on funding several museums passes for members of the Friends. If you want to access these passes then join the Friends group. Forms are available at the Circulation Desk at the Library. A January meeting has been scheduled. The Friends have also decided to finance a new web based job and career resource system to supplement the Learning Express Librarycurrently available. November 2009
The "Friends" had a successful Fall Book Sales and is planning activities for 2010. Membership for 2010 is now available and applications are available at the Circulation Desk at the Library.
October 2009 activities:
The Annual Fall Book Sale will take place on Friday October 30 from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Saturday October 31 from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. A preview will again take place on Thursday October 29 for members of the Friends. Memberships can be purchased at that time. For more information click here. This event will take place in the Library Community Room. Collection of used books will be on Saturday October 24 from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
The Annual Meeting of the Friends of the Southwick Public Library isscheduled for October 14 at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room. A brief meeting will be held followed by refreshments and a door prize. New or existing members can join the night of the meeting. Also a guest speaker will talk about "Education in a one-room schoolhouse." The presentation will be conducted by the Director ofStorrowton Village. Additional information will be the Library newsletter and in local newspapers. If you would like to join the Friends an application is available on the last page of the October newsletter (click on the link above), visit the Circulation Desk of at the Library or come to the meeting and join at that time. Membership will allow you to attend the "Preview" of the Book Sale to buy books prior to the public. September 2009 activities:
The Annual Fishing Tournament will be held at the Lakes on September 27. Further details will be in the September newsletter, at the Library or in area newspapers. August 2009 activities:
The Friends June 2009 meeting was held on Wednesday June 10. Tentative plans were discussed for the Fall Book Sale in October and the Fishing Tournament in September. Watch this space or local newspapers for details as they become available. Discussion was held on ways to support the Library and it's activities. More details will be in forthcoming issues of Library Links the newsletter published by the Library. The group plans on having a meeting in August to further plan for these and other upcoming events.
Membership forms for the Friends are available at the Circulation Desk at the Library. Members of the Friends receive a copy of the Library newsletter by mail and additional copies are available at the Circulation Desk of the Library.
