Holiday Closings

(December 8, 2011) The Town of Southwick will be holding a Special Town Meeting on Tuesday January 10, 2012 at the Southwick-Tolland Regional High School. As a result the Southwick Public Library will close at 5:00 p.m. on that day. This is a request from Town Hall to facilitate traffic and parking at the High School. The Library regrets any inconvenience to the public as a result of the early closing. ________________________________________________________________________ Wednesday November 9, 2011 at 3:39 p.m.
The Library online catalog has not been working via the Town website www.southwickma.org since last week. This is under the control of Town Hall and their vendor(s) that maintain the town website. Staff at Town Hall have been aware of the problem. At this time the problem has been corrected and access to the online catalog is now available. If there is a problem with the Town website (as shown above) questions should be directed to Town Hall specifically the Office of the Town Accountant. This website is an alternative for information related to the Southwick Public Library and this site is NOT funded by or staffed by Southwick town employees.
This website was updated several times during the past week when access to the Internet was available. Monday November 7, 2011 at 10:00 a.m.
The Southwick Public Library is open for business today. Internet service has been restored. The Library has public use computers or you can bring your own Wi-Fi enabled device. Sorry about the inconvenience during the recent power outage. Friday November 4, 2011 11:00 a.m.
The Southwick Public Library has been closed since Monday. As of this time the Library now has electric power and heat. The facility is CLOSED until Monday per order of the Board of Selectmen. We anticipate that it will be open for regular hours as of Monday (10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.). The Library also does not have Internet access. The Agawam Public Library is open and as of Thursday had Internet access and W-Fi. Books returned to the Southwick Public Library prior to 10:00 a.m. on Friday are in the process of being input into the system as returned to the Library. The boxes outside the front doors of the Library can be used to return books and other library materials. The Library telephone system has been impacted by the recent storm and may not be working properly. Thanks for your patience.

Library Remodeling - (a continuing story)
(October 27, 2011) The exterior work has been completed except for the gutters and downspouts and related which have to be reinstalled.
(October 19, 2011) The exterior siding work on the Library has been completed except for the installation of new columns and related work outside the front doors. There has been no impact on patron access to the facility. The new carpeting in the Children's room is now expected to be done in January 2012. More details later as information becomes available. The gutters and downspouts will be reinstalled on the building soon.
(October 3, 2011) The majority of the building has been resided. One
end and part of the front of the building remain to be sided. This has
not impacted public access to the building. (September 16, 2011) The dumpster is in place and the contractor has started to remove and replace the siding on the front of the building. Construction projects are always subject to change based on the weather, available crews, etc. Remember that the Library is now on non-summer hours and thus is open on Saturdays again until July 2012.
(September 15, 2011) The initial steps of the external renovation project has begun. The gutters and downspouts have been removed and stored. Several parking spaces have been temporarily taken out of service for a dumpster that will be coming in. Next week the contractor will be removing the outer wood siding on the building. The new siding will be installed as soon as possible thereafter. There will be a change in color for both the new vinyl siding and the trim on the outside of the building.
New carpeting in the Children's Room is anticipated to be installed after January 2012. More details to follow.
